MB Stone Care MB-18 Ultra 5 Polishing Powder for Marble & Calcite Stone
MB-18 Ultra 5 is a 5X concentrated wet-use polishing powder developed by MB Stone Professional for polished marble, travertine, limestone, and other calcite-based stones. Mixed with water into a slurry and worked with a hog's hair pad, it removes etch marks, light scratches, and wear patterns to restore a high-gloss finish. Coverage runs 125 to 200 sq ft per pound, and the powder is sold in 1 lb, 2 lb, 8 lb, and 25 lb sizes. It is a professional-use product: the stone must already be honed to a ready-to-polish state before MB-18 is applied.

- Clean the surface to be polished of all debris, sand and dirt, and mask off any adjacent surfaces that could be damaged by splatter.
- Complete the honing process first, to the highest clarity possible. The stone must be in a ready-to-polish state before MB-18 is used.
- Test on a small, inconspicuous area before full-scale application, and keep the product off surfaces it is not recommended for.
- Countertops: work in sections of about 3 to 4 sq ft. Sprinkle 1/2 teaspoon of powder in a circular pattern slightly smaller than the polishing pad.
- Countertops: mist with a spray bottle until the powder and the surrounding stone are soaked, set a variable-speed right-angle polisher to its slowest speed, and move a hog's hair pad slowly over the area under steady pressure.
- Countertops: check results after 2 to 3 minutes. Once a high polish is reached, semi-flush the section, pull the slurry down to the next section and repeat.
- Floors: work in sections of about 10 to 15 sq ft. Sprinkle roughly 1.5 to 2 oz (3 to 4 tablespoons) of powder in a circular pattern slightly smaller than the floor machine diameter.
- Floors: set a hog's hair pad on the powder with a full water tank, using a machine of 1.5 HP minimum and no more than 175 RPM. Release water and swing the machine back and forth to spread a thick, not overly wet, slurry.
- Floors: polish in a slow spiral motion end to end for 2.5 to 4 minutes, then check with a squeegee.
- Floors: release just enough fresh water to make the used slurry easy to vacuum, remove it with a wet vacuum, then clean with a neutral cleaner such as MB-1 Floor Amore or MB-15 Stone Glow before moving to the next section.
