CounterBalance IslandBar 24 in Hidden Island Support Bracket
The CounterBalance IslandBar (24 in) is a concealed steel island support bracket for countertop overhangs on a kitchen island or breakfast bar off of cabinetry. It attaches to the side walls of the cabinetry and supports overhangs of up to 18 in (457 mm) on 3 cm stone. This listing is a box of 3 brackets.
Features
- Concealed steel island support bracket for stone and solid surface countertop overhangs
- Supports overhangs of up to 18 in (457 mm) on 3 cm stone
- Attaches to the left or right cabinet wall, supporting island and peninsula countertops above cabinetry
- Low-profile bracket hidden from view for a clean, modern look
- Alternative to pricey corbels, which customers can bang their knees on
- Notch that aids installation when installed at full length
- Can be installed further back into the cabinet to accommodate overhangs shorter than 15 in (381 mm)
- Box of 3 brackets, each 24 in (610 mm) long
- Select locations for the IslandBars, spaced no more than 16–20 in (406–508 mm) apart for optimum performance.
- Position the IslandBar on the cabinet so the edge of the bracket will sit 3–6 in (76–152 mm) back from the edge of the counter surface once installed, and scribe a line on the cabinet wall just behind the rear edge of the bracket.
- Using a router with a 1/4 in (6.4 mm) bit, route the top of the cabinet to the line at 3/16 in (4.8 mm) depth so the IslandBar sits flush on the cabinet.
- Trace the T profile of the bracket onto the face of the cabinet and mask the surrounding area.
- Using a circular saw or oscillating multitool, cut out the marked area and test fit the bracket as necessary.
- Place the IslandBar onto the top of the routed cabinet, mark the point in each slot to be drilled, then remove the bracket.
- Drill the holes, place the IslandBar back into position and attach it with screws. Repeat as necessary and set the top position.
- Apply a silicone sealant to the top of the IslandBar to secure it to the underside of the counter surface and set the countertop into position.
