Akemi Akepox 5010 Waterclear Knife Grade Epoxy

AKEPOX® 5010 is AKEMI’s professional, gel-like, solvent-free, two-component (Part A + Part B) epoxy adhesive engineered for the stone-fabrication industry. Its knife-grade consistency gives it high creeping strength — it stays put on vertical joints while still allowing thin, precise glue lines — and its water-clear, virtually non-yellowing formula makes it the go-to choice for bonding, filling, and repairing light-colored and even white natural stone. The result is a weather-resistant, high-strength bond on marble, granite, engineered/quartz stone, terrazzo, concrete, and many other materials.

  • Water-clear & non-yellowing — built for white and light-colored stone where ordinary epoxies discolor
  • Knife-grade gel — high creeping strength, holds on vertical surfaces, low sag
  • Solvent-free — very low shrinkage and minimal tension in the bond line
  • Weather- and alkali-resistant — excellent adhesion even on concrete
  • Tintable with AKEPOX® Colouring Pastes / Concentrates (up to 5%)

  • Very neutral color with a very low tendency to yellow — safe on light and white stone
  • Gel-like consistency delivers high creeping strength on vertical surfaces, yet still allows thin adhesive joints
  • Very low shrinkage during curing, so tensions in the bonding layer stay low
  • Weather-resistant, dimensionally stable bonds with a low tendency to fatigue
  • Very good alkali stability — exceptionally well suited to bonding concrete
  • Solvent-free: excellent for gas-impermeable materials and materials sensitive to solvents (e.g. expanded polystyrene, ABS)
  • Good adhesion even on slightly humid stone
  • Easily colored with AKEPOX® Colouring Pastes or Colouring Concentrates (up to max. 5%)

Recommended for bonding & gluing:

  • Natural stone — marble, granite (silicate-bound stone bonds better than carbonate-bound stone)
  • Techno Ceramics, engineered / artificial (quartz) stone
  • Building materials — terrazzo and concrete
  • Plastics — hard PVC, polyester, polystyrene, ABS, polycarbonate
  • Paper, wood, and glass

Not suitable for: polyolefins (polyethylene, polypropylene), silicones, hydrocarbon fluorides (Teflon/PTFE), soft PVC, soft polyurethane, butyl rubber, and metal.

For load-bearing construction parts, observe the relevant standards (e.g. DIN 18516 Part 1 & Part 3, DIN 2304).

  1. Thoroughly clean and slightly roughen the surfaces to be bonded.
  2. Mix 2 parts (by volume or weight) of Part A with 1 part of Part B until a uniform, homogeneous color is achieved. Use two separate spatulas for resin and hardener.
  3. If desired, add AKEPOX® Colouring Pastes or Concentrates — up to a maximum of 5%.
  4. The mixture stays workable for approx. 20–30 minutes at 68°F (20°C). Working time shortens in heat and lengthens in cold (approx. 60–70 min at 50°F / 10°C; 10–15 min at 86°F / 30°C).
  5. Bonded parts may be moved after approx. 6–8 hours, further processed after approx. 12–16 hours, and reach maximum stability after 7 days (all at 68°F / 20°C).
  6. Clean tools with AKEMI® Nitro-Dilution before the adhesive cures. Curing is accelerated by heat and delayed by cold.
  • Keep the correct 2:1 mixing ratio — excess resin or hardener acts as a softener and can discolor the bond edges.
  • Do not apply below 50°F (10°C): the adhesive will not harden sufficiently.
  • At constant temperatures above 122°F (50°C), the cured adhesive tends to yellow.
  • Do not use adhesive that has already thickened or begun to jelly.
  • Part A may slightly crystallize (“honey effect”) — gently warm it to restore workability.
  • Cured adhesive can only be removed mechanically or with high heat (above 392°F / 200°C), not with solvents.
  • Industrial chemical product — use only in well-ventilated areas and wear chemical-resistant gloves and eye protection. Always consult the AKEMI Safety Data Sheet (SDS) before use.
