Alpha® VDP-700 / VDP-714 Variable Speed Rotary Polisher
The Alpha® VDP-700 has been the workhorse rotary polisher for stone, tile and automotive professionals for years. A powerful 1,250W motor (1,900W maximum) drives a heavy-duty precision gear system with built-in speed stabilizer for true constant-RPM output under load. Variable speed 700–3,500 RPM with soft start handles everything from wet stone polishing to dry buffing. Lightweight 6.4 lb body with both C-handle and side handle reduces fatigue on long jobs. VDP-700 is 120V with a 5/8"-11 spindle; VDP-714 is the 230V / M14-2 variant for international markets.

| Part No. | Voltage | Spindle Thread | Amps | UPC |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| VDP-700 | 120V | 5/8"-11 | 11.0A | 749173541117 |
| VDP-714 | 230V | M14-2 | 5.4A | 749173541155 |
- Mount the appropriate backer pad onto the 5/8"-11 (VDP-700) or M14-2 (VDP-714) spindle using the included spanner wrench.
- Attach polishing or sanding disc (up to 9" / 228mm) to the backer pad.
- Install either the C-handle or side handle for the most comfortable grip.
- Plug into a properly rated outlet — avoid extension cords to prevent voltage drop.
- Set the variable-speed dial: low RPM (#1-#2) for wet polishing, mid (#3-#4) for general work, high (#5-#6) for final gloss or buffing.
- Press the trigger; soft-start ramps the motor smoothly to the selected RPM.
- For wet polishing, use the optional Wet Polishing Kit and connect water feed.
- Inspect carbon brushes periodically; replace with the included spare set when worn.

What is the difference between VDP-700 and VDP-714?
VDP-700 is 120V with a 5/8"-11 spindle (North America). VDP-714 is 230V with an M14-2 spindle (international/EU markets). Performance is otherwise identical.
Can the VDP-700/714 be used for wet polishing?
Yes — with the optional Alpha® Wet Polishing Kit, which adds a water feed and splash guard for safe wet operation.
How long do the carbon brushes last, and what replaces them?
Brush life depends on load and duty cycle. An extra brush set ships with every polisher; replacements are stocked by Alpha distributors.
Why a 16-ft cord instead of allowing long extension cords?
Long thin extension cords cause amperage loss and overheat the motor. The 16-ft, 14 AWG cord delivers full rated power to the tool.
Has the VDP-700 been discontinued in favor of the BMP-700?
Alpha now offers the BMP-700 as a brushless next-generation alternative, but the VDP-700/714 remains available and is still preferred by many pros for its proven track record and 3,500 RPM top speed.
What polishers are recommended for Alpha® Profilers?
For 5cm–6cm Profiler V-Series wheels, Alpha recommends the VDP-700 with Wet Polishing Kit.
