Description

Alpha® ECG-900 Wet High-Speed Grinder (9", 110V)

The Alpha® ECG-900 is a 110V wet high-speed angle grinder built for cutting, profiling, core-drilling, and grinding on stone and hardscape. The patented Quad-W Drive feeds water through eight channels around the blade core, delivering uniform cooling with minimal mist. A rotating handle, included C-handle, in-line GFCI, splash guard, and 9" MasonMaster blade make this a complete, ready-to-cut wet system out of the box.

Features

  • 9" wet/dry high-speed grinder, 6,200 RPM no-load
  • 110V single-phase, 15 A — runs on standard US outlets
  • Quad-W Drive: 8 water channels for even cooling and low mist
  • Rotating handle with sliding lock — change angle without tools
  • Includes C-handle for stable profiling and core drilling
  • In-line GFCI and 15 ft water hose with quick-connect shut-off
  • Splash guard for low-spray edge profiling
  • Includes 9" MasonMaster blade (MM00912) and memory wrap
  • Can be run dry when paired with Ecoguard shroud and HEPA vacuum

  1. Connect the supplied GFCI between the grinder cord and your 110V outlet. Test the GFCI before each use.
  2. Install the blade or cup wheel on the Quad-W5 adapter and tighten the flange securely.
  3. Attach the appropriate guard on the right side (water forward) or left side (water toward operator). Use right side with Ecoguard W9.
  4. Connect the 15 ft water hose with quick-connect shut-off valve to a water source rated for the application.
  5. Turn the water on first, then start the grinder. Verify even water flow around the blade before contacting material.
  6. Cut at a steady feed rate — let the blade do the work; do not force it.
  7. After use, turn the grinder off, then close the water valve and drain the hose.

How do I choose the right blade for hardscape work?

The MasonMaster blade (included) is a great general-purpose blade for most hardscape materials except porcelain paver tile. For all materials including porcelain, Alpha recommends the Q-Cut blade.

Which side does the blade guard install on?

Either side. Right side directs water away from the operator; left side directs it toward the operator. When using an Ecoguard W9 dust shroud the guard must be on the right side.

Can I use 7/8" arbor blades on the ECG-900?

Yes, but a standard flange and lock-nut system is required and you lose the center water-feed advantage of the Quad-W Drive.

What do I need for 7" diamond grinding cup wheels?

Most 7" diamond cup wheels come with a 5/8"-11 threaded arbor and install directly. Alpha recommends pairing with an Ecoguard G7 shroud and a HEPA vacuum.

How do I rotate the handle?

There is a sliding lock on the top of the rotating handle. Pull it toward the end of the handle, rotate to the desired position, and release to lock.

Why are two handles included?

The side handle is for general cutting and grinding. The C-handle gives stable two-hand control for profiling, core-drilling, and overhead work.

The GFCI trips when I plug it in. What now?

The GFCI has tripped to interrupt power. Press the reset button on the GFCI and try again. If it continues to trip, stop and inspect the cord and tool for damage.

Why use water for cutting?

Water cools the cutting edge, extends diamond tool life — especially on porcelain and sintered slabs — and keeps dust on the floor.
