Alpha® PlasterKing® Polishing Pad
High-performance hook-and-loop diamond polishing pad engineered for smoothing and polishing pool plaster. The PlasterKing® system features a 5 mm thick diamond layer for long life and is offered in 7" and 9" diameters with #50 (yellow) and #100 (red) grits. Unlike many polishing pads, PlasterKing® leaves no black marking on the plaster surface. Designed for wet use, the pads pair with Alpha® PlasterKing® Backer Pads (e.g. PK710HH) and work with any standard hook-and-loop polisher of the pool contractor’s choice.

- Mount an Alpha® PlasterKing® Backer Pad (e.g. PK710HH for 7" pads) onto an M10-1.25 reverse-thread or 5/8"-11 polisher appropriate for your application.
- Press the PlasterKing® polishing pad squarely onto the backer’s hook-and-loop face, centered on the pad. Begin with #50 (yellow) for initial smoothing.
- Submerge or thoroughly wet the plaster surface — PlasterKing® is wet-use only.
- Polish at or below 5,500 RPM using light, even pressure. Let the diamonds do the work.
- Step up to #100 (red) for the final finish. Most pool contractors stop at #100 since water enhances color once the pool is filled.
- After use, rinse pads with clean water and air-dry away from heat.

What backer pad does Alpha® recommend for PlasterKing®?
MP758HL is the recommended backer pad for the PlasterKing® polishing pads. MP658HL may be used when more flexibility is needed to polish tight corners. For pneumatic underwater polishers (e.g. AIR-680UW), use the reverse-thread PK710HH backer.
Can I use PlasterKing® dry?
No. PlasterKing® is wet-use only. The bonding system is engineered for wet performance, and dry use will damage the diamond layer and shorten pad life.
Can PlasterKing® be used with the AIR-680UW underwater polisher long-term?
Yes, PlasterKing® pads are suitable for long-term use with the Alpha® AIR-680UW underwater pneumatic polisher.
Are electroplated PlasterKing® diamond pads available?
Most likely, Alpha® will begin offering electroplated PlasterKing® pads for the next spring season. Contact DST to confirm availability.
Why are only two grits (#50 and #100) offered?
Pool contractors typically stop polishing at #100 grit since once water covers the plaster, the color is enhanced and higher grits offer no practical benefit.
Is there seasonality for pool-plaster polishing?
Yes. Most pool applications occur April through Memorial Day, and October is also a busy season — before and after pool season is when contractors do most polishing.
