Alpha® GV Backer Pads for Makita® GV5000
Alpha® GV Backer Pads are hook-and-loop backer pads engineered specifically for the Makita® GV5000 Sander — a preferred tool for marble polishing applications. They eliminate messy adhesives by accepting hook-and-loop sandpaper, felt wheels and other discs, and are rigid enough for flat work while flexible enough to follow bullnosed edges. Use on stone, tile, metal, wood and glass.

- Confirm the host tool is a Makita® GV5000 Sander with the 8mm female spindle — the GV Backer Pad is not compatible with other polishers.
- Thread the M8-1.25 male stud of the backer pad fully onto the GV5000 spindle by hand until snug.
- Press a hook-and-loop sandpaper disc or felt wheel of the matching diameter (4" or 5") squarely onto the face of the pad.
- Set tool speed at or below the 4,500 RPM maximum rated for the backer pad.
- Apply light, even pressure; let the abrasive do the work to preserve the hook-and-loop layer.
- Replace the abrasive disc when worn; inspect the backer pad face for tears and replace the pad if the hook layer is damaged.

Which tool does the GV Backer Pad fit?
Only the Makita® GV5000 Sander. The pad uses an M8-1.25 male thread that matches the GV5000's unique 8mm female spindle and will not fit other polishers.
