Alpha® Ecoguard M (Spark Buster) — Angle-Grinder Metal Cutting Guard
The Alpha® Ecoguard Type M — also known as the Spark Buster — turns a variable-speed angle grinder into a controlled metal-cutting system. When fitted with a carbide-tipped blade, the Ecoguard M eliminates the dangerous kick-back of hand-held grinders and dramatically minimizes sparks, debris, and odor. The clear cover lets you see the cut line, and the rugged housing is recommended for EX (explosive-atmosphere) zones. Accepts blades up to 5" in diameter and fits selected 4-1/2", 5", and 6" variable-speed angle grinders.

- Verify your variable-speed angle grinder is on the Ecoguard Grinder Compatibility Chart (see Documents).
- Remove the factory guard and install the Ecoguard M housing on the grinder spindle.
- Mount a 4-1/2" or 5" carbide-tipped blade (TCT4530 or TCT5030) with the correct 7/8" arbor.
- Set grinder RPM at or below the blade’s max rating (13,000 RPM for 4-1/2"; 9,600 RPM for 5").
- Position the workpiece securely; align the clear cover with your cut line.
- Feed steadily — let the carbide blade do the cutting; do not force.
- Empty the debris housing periodically to maintain spark/odor containment.

What is the difference between the Ecoguard M and the Ecoguard G?
The Ecoguard M (Spark Buster) is designed for metal cutting with carbide-tipped blades — containing sparks and debris. The Ecoguard G series is for dust-producing stone, concrete and masonry work paired with a vacuum.
What blades can I use with the Ecoguard M?
Only the Alpha® Carbide-Tipped (TCT) blades sold for this guard: TCT4530 (4-1/2") and TCT5030 (5"). Do not use abrasive or diamond blades in this guard.
Does the Ecoguard M work on any angle grinder?
No. It fits selected 4-1/2", 5", and 6" variable-speed angle grinders. Check the Ecoguard Grinder Compatibility Chart in the Documents section before purchase.
Is the Ecoguard M safe to use in explosive (EX) zones?
Yes. The Ecoguard M is recommended for use in EX zones because it controls sparks, debris and odor at the cut.
What is the maximum blade RPM?
Match the grinder speed to the blade: TCT4530 is rated 13,000 RPM max; TCT5030 is rated 9,600 RPM max. Never exceed the blade rating.
What is the difference between ECOM45KIT and ECOM50KIT?
Both are kits containing the Ecoguard M guard plus a carbide blade. ECOM45KIT ships with the 4-1/2" blade (TCT4530); ECOM50KIT ships with the 5" blade (TCT5030).
