The Alpha® Ecoguard™ 5" Dust Cover & Connector Hose Kits give small high-speed angle grinders OSHA-friendly dust capture in a single ready-to-run package. Each kit pairs a 5" dust collection cover with an 18" flexible connector hose, so you can plug straight into a HEPA wet/dry vacuum and remove >90% of cutting or grinding dust at the source. The ECOCX5KIT is built around the Ecoguard CX5 cutting cover (tuckpointing, crack chasing, straight cuts up to 1-1/2" deep). The ECOGX5KIT is built around the Ecoguard GX5 grinding cover for surface prep and edge work.

- Choose ECOCX5KIT for cutting (tuckpointing, crack chasing, straight cuts) or ECOGX5KIT for grinding and surface prep.
- Mount the dust cover on your 4-1/2", 5" or 6" high-speed angle grinder using the universal adapter and tighten securely.
- Install a 5" Alpha cutting or grinding wheel rated for the grinder's RPM; verify the cover does not contact the wheel.
- Connect the 18" connector hose (500026) between the cover's dust port and your HEPA wet/dry vacuum. Use the HEP110021 adapter if cuffs do not seat.
- For long-reach work on the jobsite, swap the 18" hose for the optional 54" hose (500073).
- Turn on the vacuum BEFORE starting the grinder so dust capture starts at the first second of cut.
- For straight cuts: secure the Alpha® Guide Rail to the surface and push the cover's stabilizing bar against it. For deep cuts on slabs, place the slab on Styrofoam or cementitious board so the cutting edge stays encapsulated.
- Inspect cuffs and hose for cracks or worn seals before each shift — a clean seal is required to keep the >90% dust-capture rating.

What is the difference between ECOCX5KIT and ECOGX5KIT?
CX5 is the cutting dust cover (tuckpointing, crack chasing, straight cuts). GX5 is the grinding dust cover (surface prep, edge work). Both kits include the same 18" connector hose and fit the same 4-1/2"/5"/6" grinders.
What is the minimum and maximum cut depth on the CX5?
With a new 5" blade there is no minimum and the max is 1-3/32" (28mm). With a new 4-1/2" blade the max is 7/8" (23mm). Depth adjusts in 3/16" (5mm) increments.
Will it fit my angle grinder?
Most likely yes — the universal adapter fits virtually all brands and models of 4-1/2", 5" and 6" high-speed angle grinders, corded or cordless.
Do I need a HEPA vacuum?
Yes — a HEPA wet/dry vacuum that delivers strong continuous suction is required to hit the >90% dust-capture rating.
Can I extend the hose for jobsite reach?
Yes. Swap the 18" hose (500026) for the optional 54" hose (500073) when working away from the vacuum.
How do I keep the cut straight?
Use the Alpha® Guide Rail clamped to the surface and push the cover's stabilizing bar against it. The included cut-line indicator is adjustable as the blade wears.
What if dust still escapes when cutting a thick slab?
Place the slab on Styrofoam or cementitious board and cut through the substrate too — this encapsulates the cutting edge inside the cover's footprint.
