Description
Alpha® AIR-680UW Underwater Pneumatic Polisher
The Alpha® AIR-680UW is a high-performance pneumatic polisher built for underwater polishing, drilling, and profiling — a modified version of the bestselling AIR-680 with a 27 ft flexible exhaust hose that lets the operator work submerged in most pool sizes. A central water-feed system delivers ample water regardless of tool position, making it ideal for pool plaster, marble, granite, engineered stone, and concrete. Spins at 4,000 no-load RPM, requires 85 PSI / 15 CFM, and ships complete with 5/8"-11 spindle, side and C-handles, a 7" backer pad, and 50 and 100 grit PlasterKing pads.

- Connect the 30 ft air hose to a compressor capable of 85 PSI and 15 CFM.
- Attach the 15 ft water supply line to the central water-feed inlet and a clean water source.
- Connect the 27 ft flexible exhaust hose for underwater operation, routing the exhaust to atmosphere above the waterline.
- Install the 7" rotary backer pad onto the 5/8"-11 spindle and attach a 7" PlasterKing pad (50-grit for cut, 100-grit for finish).
- Submerge and begin polishing — keep the tool running while underwater to prevent water back-wash into the motor.
- At end of shift, add a few drops of rust-inhibitor oil to the oil port and run briefly to lubricate the rotor and cylinder.

Can I use the AIR-680UW underwater without the flex exhaust hose?
Yes, but water will try to back-wash into the motor whenever the tool stops. For continuous underwater operation without the hose, the polisher must keep running while submerged so airflow direction prevents water ingress. Alpha strongly recommends using the included 27 ft flex exhaust hose.
How much rust-inhibitor oil should I use and how often?
Place only a few drops of rust-inhibitor oil into the oil port at the end of every shift, then slowly turn on the air to lubricate the rotor and cylinder. Avoid applying oil at full pressure — it expels prematurely.
Can I use the AIR-680UW for grinding?
Yes, with the appropriate tooling. Wet grinding is recommended to prevent the tool from overheating given the 4,000 RPM operating range.
What is the warranty period?
One year limited warranty — see manual for full details.
Can I use the AIR-680UW for dry polishing?
Yes. For 4" dry polishing pads, Alpha recommends pairing the tool with the new Ecoguard G4 dust guard along with a HEPA vacuum for OSHA silica compliance.
Does Alpha offer pneumatic high-speed angle grinders with center water feed?
Yes — the PSC-600 accepts 7/8" arbor tools. Alternatives include the PSG-125 and WBCKIT for cutting, grinding, and profiling with an exterior water-feed system.
