Description

Akemi ColourBond Pre-Tinted Two-Component Cartridge Adhesive

AKEMI® Colour Bond is a gel-like, two-component, colour-matched bonding compound based on epoxyacrylate resin dissolved in styrene. Pre-tinted from a palette of more than 50 shades, it is engineered for seamless, colour-adjusted bonding of engineered (quartz) stone as well as natural stone, ceramics, and large-format techno ceramics. Its smooth, slightly gel-like body does not form filaments, cures fast, and polishes beautifully — so joints on Silestone, Caesarstone, Dekton, Neolith and similar surfaces virtually disappear. Supplied in the 250 mL twin cartridge for clean dosing and mixing through a static nozzle.

  • Colour-matched — more than 50 pre-tinted shades for near-invisible seams
  • Very fast hardening — grind, mill or drill in about 20–40 minutes
  • Excellent polishability with very good surface drying
  • Cartridge system — smooth, filament-free flow; easy dosing and mixing
  • Food-contact safe once hardened — certified by an external German testing institute
  • Low VOC — 12 g/L (ASTM D2369)

  • Very good workability from a smooth, slightly gel-like body that does not form filaments
  • Very fast hardening (approx. 15–40 minutes) with very good surface drying
  • Excellently polishable for invisible, colour-matched seams
  • More than 50 colours available for seamless bonding of many engineered-stone types
  • Improved protection against yellowing
  • Very good adhesion on engineered, natural and artificial stone, including at elevated temperatures
  • Resistant to water, petrol, and mineral oils
  • After hardening, harmless on contact with food — certified by an external German testing institute
  • Low VOC (12 g/L); meets LEED v4 EQc2 / SCAQMD Rule 1168 for multipurpose construction adhesives

Recommended for colour-matched bonding of:

  • Engineered / quartz stone — e.g. Caesarstone®, Silestone®, Zodiaq®, Corian®
  • Natural stone and ceramics
  • Large-format techno ceramics — e.g. Dekton®, Lapitec®, Neolith®, Laminam®, Kerlite®, Maxfine

Keep bond layers thin (< 1 mm). Only moderate adhesion on fresh, alkaline building materials (e.g. concrete). Bonds frequently exposed to humidity and frost have limited durability.

  1. Thoroughly clean, dry, and slightly roughen the surfaces to be bonded.
  2. Remove the clasp, insert the cartridge in the gun and work the grip until material emerges from both openings, then screw on the mixing nozzle. Discard the first 4 in. (10 cm) pressed from the nozzle.
  3. Keep bond layers as thin as possible (less than 1 mm) to limit shrinkage and heat build-up.
  4. The 6-minute type stays workable approx. 5–7 min; the 12-minute type approx. 10–12 min at 68°F (20°C). Do not work the 12-minute type below 68°F (20°C).
  5. Work can continue on the cured bond (grinding, milling, drilling) after approx. 20–30 min (6-minute type) or 30–40 min (12-minute type) at 68°F (20°C). Curing is accelerated by heat and delayed by cold.
  6. Clean tools with AKEMI® Nitro-Dilution before the product cures.
  • Wear AKEMI® Liquid Glove or chemical-resistant gloves to protect your hands.
  • Do not use product that has already thickened or begun to gel.
  • The hardened product has a very slight tendency to yellow.
  • Once hardened, it can only be removed mechanically or with high heat (above 392°F / 200°C), not with solvents.
  • Use AKEMI® original mixing nozzles only; after use, remove the nozzle and reseal with the original clasp.
  • Industrial chemical product — use only in well-ventilated areas and wear chemical-resistant gloves and eye protection. Always consult the AKEMI Safety Data Sheet (SDS) before use.
