Description

MB Stone Care MB-22 E-Z Terrazzo Polishing Powder

MB-22 E-Z Terrazzo Polishing Powder is a wet polishing powder formulated for terrazzo and calcite-based stone such as white marble, onyx and hard limestone. Its lower acid content means the slurry will not etch surrounding surfaces when it splatters, which makes it forgiving to work with around edges, sinks, faucets and tub surrounds. The powder is mixed with water into a toothpaste-consistency paste and worked with a hog's hair or white pad on a variable-speed right-angle polisher. One pound covers roughly 125 to 200 square feet depending on the stone and technique.

Features

  • Wet polishing powder formulated for terrazzo and calcite-based stone including marble, onyx, hard limestone and travertine
  • Lower acid content, so splattered slurry does not etch the surfaces around the work area
  • Removes smooth-surface etch marks and restores gloss on dulled stone
  • Mixes with water into a toothpaste-consistency paste for controlled, low-splatter application
  • Coverage of 125 to 200 square feet per pound
  • Suitable for countertops and large floor areas, indoors and outdoors
  • Applied with a hog's hair or white pad on a variable-speed right-angle polisher with a 5 inch pad driver
  • Stocked in 1 lb, 2 lb, 10 lb and 25 lb sizes
Part No Size Format

  1. Mask off the work area to protect surfaces that are not being polished.
  2. Wear proper protective equipment, including safety glasses and gloves.
  3. Make sure the surface is free of coatings, waxes, sealers, grease and soil, and honed to the highest clarity possible.
  4. Fit a hog's hair pad and a 5 inch pad driver to a variable-speed right-angle grinder or polisher.
  5. Measure roughly 1/3 oz (about 9 g) of powder per 2 to 3 square feet; exact amounts vary by stone.
  6. Place the powder in the center of the target area and add enough water to form a paste with the consistency of toothpaste, thick enough not to splatter.
  7. Set the machine with the hog's hair pad directly on top of the paste and start slowly, spreading the product across the area with even, generally light pressure.
  8. Run the machine on a slow setting for about one minute per square foot until the target gloss develops.
  9. Near fixtures, a white pad cut about 1/2 inch larger than the pad driver diameter shields the fixture or adjacent surface while you polish close to it.
  10. Every stone is different; adjust the amount of product and the technique as the surface responds.

Will MB-22 remove etch marks from marble or terrazzo?

Yes. Smooth-surface etch marks can be removed with this polishing powder.

Can it be used on both indoor and outdoor terrazzo?

Yes. MB-22 is suitable for indoor and outdoor terrazzo surfaces.

What makes MB-22 easier to work with than other powders?

It has a lower acid content, which leaves less room for error on a job, and it delivers a glossy finish without damaging the stone. It is also available in bulk sizes for large areas.

Will it remove scratches or stains?

No. Stains need a stain remover such as Stain Reaper, and scratches must be corrected with abrasives.

How often should stone surfaces be polished?

MB-22 can be used whenever the surface needs it; there is no fixed interval.

Is it safe on marble?

Yes. The product is designed for calcite-based stones, which includes marble, limestone and travertine.

What should I do after polishing?

Seal the stone, then maintain it with a pH-neutral cleaner such as MB-5 Stone & More or Easy Oxy to avoid damaging the finish.

How much powder and water should I mix?

Use about 1/3 oz of powder per 2 to 3 square feet and only enough water to reach a toothpaste-like paste that will not splatter.
