Alpha® EZ Thin Cutter Starter Kit — 24" T-Cutter, Slimline Cutter, Running Plier & Oil
The Alpha® EZ Thin Cutter Starter Kit is a complete manual score-and-snap solution for thin porcelain panels and large-format slim tile such as SlimLite™ (Daltile®) and Laminam® (Crossville®). One box delivers the 24" T-Cutter (KEC-600) for fast, precision straight cuts, the Slimline Oil Cutter (KOC305B) for free-hand scoring, the EZ Running Plier (KOC512P) for clean breaks on 5–12 mm material, and an 8 oz bottle of EZ Cutter Oil (KOC1000) to keep the tungsten-carbide score wheels gliding. No power, no dust, no water — just controlled scoring and a clean snap.

- Fill the Slimline Oil Cutter’s self-lubricating reservoir with KOC1000 EZ Cutter Oil and verify oil dispensing on a scrap edge.
- For straight cuts, set the 24" T-Cutter (KEC-600) on the panel, align to the cut line, and pull the score head toward you with consistent downward pressure.
- For free-hand or short cuts, use the Slimline Cutter against a straight edge; one firm continuous score is better than multiple light passes.
- Position the Running Plier on the score line with the red indicator line aligned to the score.
- Squeeze the plier handles gently — the snap should follow the score with minimal force.
- For panels wider than 25-1/2" use the KEC-1500 (60") T-Cutter or the Spike Ruler with a power score tool.
- Wipe the wheel and store the cutter dry to maximize service life.

What is in the 5480-1700 Starter Kit?
One 24" T-Cutter (KEC-600), one Slimline Oil Cutter (KOC305B), one Running Plier (KOC512P) and one 8 oz EZ Cutter Oil (KOC1000) — everything needed to score and snap thin porcelain.
What materials can I cut with this kit?
Smooth-surface porcelain panels and slim tile such as Daltile® SlimLite™ and Crossville® Laminam®. It will not work on textured panels, natural stone or glass.
What is the maximum material thickness?
Up to 3/8" (10 mm) effective thickness. Minimum is typically 1/8" (3 mm).
What is the maximum cut length?
The 24" T-Cutter (KEC-600) included in the kit scores up to 25-1/2". For panels up to 60" step up to the KEC-1500 (60" T-Cutter, sold separately).
Does it work on textured panels?
No. Textured surfaces prevent the wheel from producing a continuous score. Use the Alpha Spike Ruler with a power tool such as the Ecocutter (ECC-125), AWS-110 stone cutter or Ecoguard C with a Katana / Laminam blade.
Do I have to use the oil?
It is highly recommended — the oil keeps the tungsten-carbide wheel cutting smoothly and extends its life. Kerosene, mineral oil or sewing machine oil are acceptable substitutes if needed.
How do I get a clean snap with the Running Plier?
Place the plier on the score line with the red indicator aligned to the score, then apply a gentle, even squeeze. The break should follow the score with very little force.
Can I cut a 45° miter or shower-knob cutout?
No — this is a straight score-and-snap kit. For 45° miters use the Alpha Beveling Auxiliary Base; for shower-knob cutouts use the Alpha Contour Blade for Porcelain.
