Description
Akemi Rust Remover — Water-Based Acidic Cleaning Concentrate (HCl-Free)
AKEMI® Rust Remover is an intensive, water-based cleaning concentrate built on inorganic acids with non-ionic surfactants and rust inhibitors — and, importantly, it is completely free of hydrochloric acid. It lifts both surface rust stains and the stubborn stains caused by rust-bearing inclusions in acid-resistant natural and artificial stone. On granite and gneiss, the iron occlusions that create the rust are enveloped by the product, which inhibits the formation of new rust over the long term. Ideal for floor coverings and horizontal surfaces where rust bleed has discolored the stone.
- Free of hydrochloric acid — a gentler acidic chemistry than aggressive HCl-based removers
- Removes surface & indwelling rust — and inhibits new rust from iron inclusions in granite/gneiss
- Biodegradable surfactants — formulated to meet EU regulations for surfactants
- Long-term protective effect — envelops the rust-causing occlusions in the stone
- Ideal for floors — use the paste version on vertical surfaces such as facades

- Intensive cleaning power based on inorganic acids — without aggressive hydrochloric acid
- Removes both surface rust stains and stains caused by rust-bearing inclusions in the stone
- Envelops the iron occlusions in granite and gneiss, inhibiting the formation of new rust
- Long-term protective effect against recurring rust
- Biodegradable surfactants that comply with legal regulations
- Ideal for floor coverings; a paste version is available for vertical surfaces
Suitable for:
- Acid-resistant natural stone — granite and gneiss
- Acid-resistant artificial stone
- Floor coverings, stairs, terraces, monuments and other horizontal surfaces
Not suitable for: polished marble, limestone, terrazzo, and other calcareous (acid-sensitive) stone, as well as eloxal (anodized aluminum) and enamel — the acid will etch these. If in doubt, test on an inconspicuous area first.
- Apply undiluted with a solid brush or spatula to an absolutely dry stone surface. To avoid new rusting and color changes on untreated areas, apply to the complete stone surface.
- Allow the product to work for up to 24 hours.
- Avoid drying of the treated surface — it is recommended to cover it with a synthetic foil.
- Rinse thoroughly with water until all excess product has been removed.
- Repeat the process on the dry stone if necessary.
- After successful treatment, protect the stone with AKEMI® Stone Impregnation or AKEMI® Stain Repellent to keep watery substances from penetrating and to further guard against new rust.
- Strongly acidic (pH < 1) — never apply on polished marble, limestone, terrazzo, eloxal or enamel.
- Do not allow contact with plants; rinse immediately with water if it occurs. Concentrated and diluted solutions must not be emptied into planted areas.
- A particularly long dwell time can cause a slight darkening of some stone types; this usually disappears after washing several times with plenty of water and AKEMI® Stone Cleaner.
- Prepare a sample area first to evaluate cleaning power, appearance and material consumption.
- Industrial chemical product — use only in well-ventilated areas and wear chemical-resistant gloves and eye protection. Always consult the AKEMI Safety Data Sheet (SDS) before use.
