Akemi Marble Rust Remover (500 mL)
AKEMI® Rust Remover Marble is an aqueous, slightly alkaline, ready-to-use cleaning agent for lifting superficial rust stains from acid-sensitive stone. Because it is acid-free, it is ideal for polished marble and limestone — surfaces that ordinary acidic rust removers would etch and damage. It targets rust marks left by fertilizers, tools, iron parts, and other ferrous objects on natural and artificial stone or concrete ashlar. Once the rust is converted, it simply rinses away with clear water.
- Acid-free & marble-safe — ideal for polished marble and limestone
- Removes superficial rust from ferrous tools, fixings, and fertilizers
- Ready to use — apply undiluted, then rinse with clear water
- Works in minutes — typical 5–10 minute contact time
- For laid or to-be-laid stone, indoors with ventilation

- Converted rust rinses away with clear water
- Suitable for stone already laid or ready to be laid
Removing superficial rust stains produced by ferrous substances or objects (fertilizers, tools, iron parts, etc.) from natural and artificial stone or concrete ashlar that is sensitive to acids. Especially suited to polished marble and limestone surfaces.
Please note: deep-seated (immanent) rust stains cannot be removed. A violet staining may appear at first but clears on its own after approx. 1–2 days; any persistent violet can be removed with a 5% hydrogen peroxide solution.
- Prepare a sample area first to judge cleaning power and any change in colour.
- Work at the ideal temperature of 59–77°F (15–25°C).
- Apply undiluted and saturated to the dry surface to be treated.
- Allow the product to work for 5–10 minutes (do not exceed 10 minutes — risk of stain forming).
- If needed, support cleaning mechanically with a brush or scrubber.
- Rinse thoroughly with clear water; repeat for stubborn rust stains.
- Afterwards, protect the stone with AKEMI® Stone Impregnation or Stain Repellent to help prevent new rust.
- Do not let the product dry on the surface; if it does, flush with plenty of water and AKEMI® Stone Cleaner.
- Do not exceed a 10-minute contact time — risk of stain forming.
- Higher temperatures shorten and lower temperatures lengthen the exposure time.
- Do not bring into direct contact with plants or plantations; if it happens, rinse with plenty of water.
- Provide sufficient ventilation when using indoors. Wear chemical-resistant gloves and eye protection, and consult the AKEMI Safety Data Sheet (SDS) before use.
