Description

Akemi Platinum 5.0 P+ — Premium Epoxyacrylate Stone Adhesive

AKEMI® PLATINUM P+ is a premium two-component adhesive based on unsaturated epoxyacrylate resins, available in both flowing and knife-grade consistencies. The Platinum 5.0 generation is engineered for even lower color, better clarity and stronger, faster bonds — making it ideal for color-matching to the whitest stone, quartz and large-format porcelain / Techno Ceramic (Dekton®, Lapitec®, Neolith®, Laminam®). It hardens fast with excellent surface drying, polishes beautifully, and — when properly applied and hardened — is classified as harmless to health for stone and ceramic bonds that contact food.

  • Very light, transparent color — excellent color matching even on the whitest surfaces
  • Two consistencies — flowing for filling/laminating, knife-grade for vertical joints
  • Fast hardening & excellent surface drying — and excellently polishable
  • Strong adhesion — on natural stone, quartz and Techno Ceramic, even at higher temperatures
  • Resistant to water, petrol & mineral oils — with improved protection against yellowing

Resistance Resistant to water, petrol and mineral oils
Food Contact When properly applied and hardened, classified as harmless to health for stone/ceramic bonds contacting food
Tool Cleaner AKEMI® Nitro Thinner (uncured adhesive)
  • Wide field of application thanks to flowing and knife-grade consistencies
  • Very light, transparent color for excellent color matching, even to the whitest surfaces
  • Fast hardening with excellent surface drying, and excellently polishable
  • Improved adhesion and bonding strength — also on Techno Ceramic (large-format porcelain)
  • Very good adhesion on natural stone, including at higher temperatures
  • Improved protection against yellowing; resistant to water, petrol and mineral oils
  • When properly applied and hardened, generally recognized as not injurious to health

Mainly used in stone processing for:

  • Bonding natural stone, quartz and ceramics
  • Bonding large-size Techno Ceramic — Dekton®, Lapitec®, Neolith®, Laminam®, Kerlite®, Maxfine
  • Reinforcing (laminating) natural stone slabs with glass-fiber products
  • Forming rock substitutes with crushed rock and sand

Note: only moderate adhesion on fresh, alkaline building materials (e.g. concrete, concrete bricks); bonds frequently exposed to humidity and frost have non-durable resistance.

  1. The surface to be bonded must be clean, completely dry and roughened.
  2. If desired, tint with AKEMI® Polyester Colouring Pastes / Concentrates up to max. 5%. Knife-grade can be thinned in any ratio with the flowing grade.
  3. Add 1 to 3 g of white hardener paste per 100 g of adhesive (4–5 cm of paste from the screw tube ≈ 1 g).
  4. Mix both components thoroughly. The mixture stays workable for about 5–15 minutes at 68°F (20°C), depending on product and hardener dose.
  5. After about 15–40 minutes the parts can be further processed (grinding, milling, drilling). Hardening is accelerated by heat and delayed by cold.
  6. Clean tools with AKEMI® Nitro Thinner before the adhesive cures.
  • Keep the hardener dose in range: more than 4% reduces adhesion and worsens surface drying; more than 3% causes marked yellowing; less than 1% (and temperatures below 41°F / 5°C) greatly delays hardening.
  • Do not use adhesive that has already thickened or begun to gel.
  • Keep bonding layers as thin as possible (< 1 mm) — shrinkage is approximately 5–8% due to the high reactivity and heat of curing.
  • Once hardened, the adhesive can only be removed mechanically or by high heat (above 392°F / 200°C), not with solvents.
  • Industrial chemical product — use only in well-ventilated areas and wear chemical-resistant gloves and eye protection. Always consult the AKEMI Safety Data Sheet (SDS) before use.
