Alpha® is pleased to introduce new PlastrKing Backer Pads for Pool Plaster Polishing. These pads are designed to work with our PlasterKing 7” resin polishing pads for pool plaster polishing applications. Since many pool contractors are using gas-powered weed cutters, Alpha® offers two options made with an M10 reverse thread to avoid the challenges of typical backer pads. One is designed as a hard backer with minimal flexibility to work on flat areas (shown on the right below), and the other one has a much softer edge designed to polish curved areas such as corners and bottoms, (shown on the left). The additional flexibility allow you to polish curved surfaces easier with full contact between the polishing pad and backer pad.

Does Alpha® offer corresponding backer pad for PlasterKing pads using a handheld polisher?
Answer :
Yes. Alpha® recommends the MP758HL for the PlasterKing Pad. The MP658HL can be used if the user wishes to have more flexibility to polish tight corners.

When will Alpha® start offering electroplated versions of the PlasterKing pads?
Answer :
Alpha® has a plan to roll out 7” and 9” electroplated versions of PlasterKing pads in the winter of 2026.

What is the difference between the MP758HL and PK710HH?
Answer :
The arbor of the MP758HL is 5/8”-11 thread that will go on to the most popular polishers sold in the North American Market. The arbor of the PK710HH is an M10-1.25 Reverse Thread so that it will go on the spindle of weed cutters.

Does Alpha® offer an electric polisher suitable for plaster polishing applications?
Answer :
Yes. Since the PlasterKing pads are 7” diameter, Alpha® recommend using the BMP-700 with a wet polishing kit.

Can I use the VSP-320 Electric Wet Polisher with PlasterKing pads?
Answer :
No. Alpha® recommends the VSP-320 polisher for up to 5” diameter polishing pad.

Does Alpha® offer any polisher I can use under water?
Answer :
Yes. Alpha® offers the AIR-680UW that is designed for underwater polishing applications. You can use it with a portable air compressor or scuba tank with regulator since most of underwater polishing application is short.

What is difference between PK710HH and PK710SH?
Answer :
Both are made for weed cutters which are the most popular machines for pool plaster polishing; however, they offer different hardnesses for use on flat and curved surfaces.
