Description

Alpha® Vortex Intricate & Flush Cutting Blade

The Alpha® Vortex is the evolution of the discontinued Duo Trak Blade, purpose-built for flush cutting, 90-degree inside corners and intricate shapes such as sink-bowl cut-outs. Dual side-protection segments along both faces of the blade boost rigidity and life. The granite versions (FCD) use a sintered diamond bond; the marble version (FCM) uses an electroplated bond for chip-free cuts on softer stones. The Vortex mounts on any high-speed angle grinder via the matching Quad Drive adapter — BAH-5/8 for 5/8"-11 spindles or AAH-20 for 20 mm / M14 grinders.

Features

  • Flush and intricate cutting in one blade — sink bowls, corners, curves
  • Dual side-protection segments boost durability and chip-free finish
  • FCD (Granite) blades: sintered bond for granite and engineered stone
  • FCM (Marble) blade: electroplated bond for marble and softer natural stones
  • 20 mm Quad Drive interface — requires BAH-5/8 or AAH-20 adapter
  • Wet or dry capable — wet cutting maximizes life and suppresses silica dust
Part No. Size Stone Thickness Max RPM Drive UPC
FCD40AH 4" Granite 2.5 mm 14,500 20 mm Quad Drive 749173470332
FCD50AH 5" Granite 2.5 mm 12,200 20 mm Quad Drive 749173470349
FCM50AH 5" Marble 1.6 mm 12,200 20 mm Quad Drive 749173470356
  1. Match the blade to the stone: FCD for granite / engineered stone, FCM for marble / softer stones. Do NOT run the FCM on granite — the electroplated diamonds will dull immediately.
  2. Install the appropriate Quad Drive adapter (BAH-5/8 for 5/8"-11 spindles, AAH-20 for 20 mm / M14 grinders). The Vortex must be used with an adapter.
  3. Seat the blade so the drive pins fully engage the countersunk holes, then tighten by hand and snug with a wrench.
  4. Spin up under no-load to verify true running before plunging.
  5. Cut wet whenever possible — wet cutting extends blade life and keeps respirable silica out of the air.
  6. Use moderate, steady feed pressure; let the blade do the work to maintain chip-free edges.

What is the difference between the FCD and FCM blades?

FCD blades use a sintered diamond bond for granite and engineered stone. The FCM blade uses an electroplated bond optimized for marble and softer stones. Running the FCM on granite will dull the diamonds and end blade life almost immediately.

Can the Vortex mount directly on my grinder?

No. The countersunk drive holes require an Alpha Quad Drive adapter — BAH-5/8 for 5/8"-11 spindles or AAH-20 for 20 mm / M14 spindles.

Is wet or dry cutting better?

Wet cutting is preferred — it extends blade life and keeps harmful respirable silica dust out of the air.

What jobs is the Vortex designed for?

Flush cutting, 90-degree inside corners, sink-bowl cut-outs and curved or intricate shapes that a standard rim or segmented blade cannot perform cleanly.
