Alpha® Silencer III Bridge Saw Blade for Engineered Stone / Quartz
The Alpha® Silencer III for Engineered Stone is a specialty bridge saw blade engineered to cut every type and brand of engineered stone / quartz surface. Its uniquely laminated core — two hardened steel sheets with a thin copper sheet sandwiched between them — absorbs sound waves rather than reflecting them, dramatically reducing noise while delivering fast, chip-free cuts. Available in 12", 14", 16" and 18" diameters with a 60mm arbor (50mm adapter included on 14"+; 12" ships with 60mm and 1" arbors), the Silencer III combines superior cost performance, quiet operation and free re-tipping service for the life of the blade.

- Confirm spindle size and install the blade on the matching arbor (60mm with 50mm adapter, or 1" for 12").
- Mount the blade so that the indicator arrows point in the same direction the spindle turns.
- Verify saw RPM does not exceed the blade rating (12" — 6,200 max; 14" — 4,365 max; 16" — 3,820 max; 18" — 3,395 max).
- Use the Silencer III for engineered stone / quartz only; do not cut granite or marble, which compromises performance and blade life.
- Run wet at all times — supply continuous water to both sides of the blade.
- Feed at a steady traverse rate; consult the Alpha® Peripheral-Traverse-Speed Chart for the optimum rate at your blade size and spindle RPM.
- When segments wear down, return the blade to Alpha® for free re-tipping service.

What materials is this blade designed to cut?
It cuts all types and brands of engineered stone / quartz. It is not recommended for granite or marble — use the matching Silencer III variant for those materials.
What sizes are available?
SLW1273E (12"), SLW1473E (14"), SLW1673E (16"), SLW1873E (18"), plus SLW167DE (16" for Donatoni saws).
What arbor does it use?
14", 16" and 18" ship with a 60mm arbor and a 50mm adapter. The 12" ships with 60mm and 1" arbors for common 12" bridge saws.
Can the Silencer III be used dry?
No. Wet cutting diamond blades must be used with continuous water to prevent heat buildup that damages segments and the core. Always supply water to both sides of the blade.
What makes the Silencer III quieter than other blades?
The core is laminated from two hardened steel sheets with a thin copper sheet between them. The copper absorbs sound waves rather than reflecting them — significantly reducing operating noise compared with solid-steel-core blades.
Does direction of rotation matter?
Yes. Install the blade so the indicator arrows on the body point in the same direction the spindle turns.
What is the maximum operating RPM?
12" — 6,200 RPM. 14" — 4,365 RPM. 16" — 3,820 RPM. 18" — 3,395 RPM. Never exceed the blade rating.
Does Alpha re-tip worn blades?
Yes — Alpha® offers free re-tipping service for the life of the blade at its New Jersey facility, provided the core remains undamaged.
