Description

Akemi Akepox 2030 Quick Mix Two-Component Epoxy Adhesive

AKEPOX® 2030 is AKEMI’s creamy, solvent-free, two-component (Part A + Part B) epoxy adhesive built for the stone-fabrication industry. Its filled, creamy body gives it excellent vertical stability — it holds on uneven or upright joints without sagging — while its relatively fast cure gets parts back into production quickly. The result is an extremely weather-resistant, dimensionally stable, high-strength bond on marble, granite, porcelain and ceramics, engineered stone, terrazzo, concrete, and metals. Supplied here in the 400 mL Quick Mix cartridge for clean, pre-metered dosing through a static mixing nozzle.

  • Creamy, non-sag body — good vertical stability, bridges relatively uneven surfaces
  • Relatively fast hardening — bonded parts movable in about 3–5 hours
  • Solvent-free — extremely low shrinkage and low tension in the bond line
  • Weather- and alkali-resistant — very well suited to bonding concrete
  • Cartridge system — easy, accurate dosing and mixing
  • Tintable with AKEPOX® Colouring Pastes / Concentrates (up to 5%)

  • Relatively fast hardening for quicker turnaround
  • Creamy consistency gives good vertical stability and lets you join relatively uneven surfaces
  • Extremely low shrinkage during curing, so tensions in the bonding layer stay low
  • Extremely weather-resistant, dimensionally stable bonds with a small tendency to fatigue
  • Very good alkali stability — very well suited to bonding concrete
  • Solvent-free: excellent for gas-impermeable materials and materials sensitive to solvents (e.g. expanded polystyrene, ABS)
  • Good adhesion even on slightly humid stone; good electrical insulating property
  • Coated metal parts are very well protected against corrosion
  • Not liable to crystallize — trouble-free storage and processing
  • Easily coloured with AKEPOX® Colouring Pastes or Concentrates (up to max. 5%)

Recommended for bonding & gluing:

  • Natural stone — marble and granite
  • Porcelain and ceramics
  • Artificial / engineered stone and building materials (terrazzo, concrete)
  • Metals — iron, steel, aluminum (also protects them against corrosion)
  • Plastics — rigid PVC, polyester, polystyrene, ABS, polycarbonate
  • Paper, wood, and glass

Not suitable for: polyolefins (polyethylene, polypropylene), silicone, fluorohydrocarbons (Teflon/PTFE), flexible PVC, flexible PU, and butyl rubber.

For load-bearing construction parts, observe the relevant standards (e.g. DIN 18516 Part 1 & Part 3, DIN 2304).

  1. Thoroughly clean and slightly roughen the surfaces to be bonded.
  2. Cartridge: remove the clasp, insert the cartridge in the gun and work the grip until material emerges from both openings, then screw on the mixing nozzle. Cans: thoroughly mix 2 parts of Part A with 1 part of Part B (by volume or weight) until a uniform, homogeneous colour is achieved, using two separate spatulas for resin and hardener.
  3. If desired, add AKEPOX® Colouring Pastes or Concentrates — up to a maximum of 5%.
  4. The mixture stays workable for approx. 20–30 minutes at 68°F (20°C). Working time shortens in heat and lengthens in cold (approx. 50–60 min at 50°F / 10°C; 8–12 min at 86°F / 30°C).
  5. Bonded parts may be moved after approx. 3–5 hours, further processed after approx. 8–10 hours, and reach maximum stability after 7 days (all at 68°F / 20°C).
  6. Clean tools with AKEMI® Nitro-Thinner before the adhesive cures. Curing is accelerated by heat and delayed by cold.
  • Keep the correct 2:1 mixing ratio — excess resin or hardener acts as a softener and can discolor the bond edges.
  • Do not apply below 50°F (10°C): the adhesive will not harden sufficiently.
  • The cured adhesive is liable to yellow in sunlight — not suited for fillings or visible joints on light-coloured or white surfaces.
  • Do not use adhesive that has already thickened or begun to jelly.
  • Grind metal surfaces shortly before bonding to avoid a loss of adhesion.
  • Cured adhesive can only be removed mechanically or with high heat (above 392°F / 200°C), not with solvents.
  • For cartridges, use AKEMI® original mixing nozzles only. For professional use only.
  • Industrial chemical product — use only in well-ventilated areas and wear chemical-resistant gloves and eye protection. Always consult the AKEMI Safety Data Sheet (SDS) before use.
